Skating On In-Line

For most people, there doesn’t seem to be much you can do as a family that will encourage kids to get up, get out into nature, and have fun. The exception to this rule is now inline skating, especially if you live in the Tampa area of Florida. It is here that you will find an event known as the Squiggy Classic. It is an event that is a fundraiser to benefit county parks so that they can maintain facilities that are used by visitors. However, the Squiggy is also much more than just a simple benefit.

Why Go Inline Skating?

One of the best things about inline skating is how easy it is to do. It is simple to learn and can be done virtually anywhere that there is a solid surface. Skating is very low impact. It does not cause stress on your joints, but increases your flexibility and keeps you off the couch. It is also fun for everyone in the family. You can add more fun by implementing games that you can play as a family when you are not skating along a nature trail.

Fun Games to Play

Imagine you and your children playing a game of tag while wearing skates. It will add a definite challenge and increase the fun you will have. Red Light, Green Light is also more fun when you have the challenge of skating along since it is harder to stop on command. Your kids may also enjoy the challenge of picking up objects that they can then put into a bin. Whoever picks up and delivers the most will be the winner. You can also challenge kids to skate without spilling a cup of water that they carry on a tray, stop before a chalk line after skating as quickly as they can toward it, or complete a skate course without knocking over cones while going as fast as they can.

The truth is; you can do anything on roller skates or inline skates and everything will become more fun for you and your children. What more could you hope for on a weekend when you would otherwise be simply sitting around the house?
