Inline Skating Safety

learn to skateAs with all physical activities that we take part in, inline skating does require us to consider our safety. Whether you are young or old, new to skating or very experienced, there are things you should do to ensure you are playing it safe. To help you stay safe, we hope you follow our simple, inline skating safety rules.

Wear Proper Gear

safetyA helmet, knee and elbow pads, comfortable skates, and even long pants and sleeves are all good things to consider when skating. You want the pads to protect you from scrapes and bruises on your elbows and knees. Long clothes can protect other parts of your body. Comfortable skates are to prevent you from developing blisters and sore spots while you are skating. You should always wear socks to further help prevent issues.

Pick Your Spot

This is more important when you are a beginner, but can be useful at any time. You want to make sure that your path is free of obstacles and people if at all possible. For a beginner, you want to practice in an area that has nothing around so that you can work up to being around others.

Learn to Fall

Stay Focused

One of the most important things you can do while skating is to stay focused on your location at all times. Skate with your head up so that you can see where an obstacle or a person may be. You will be able to adjust accordingly if you give yourself more warning.

You may also want to skate with a friend since you can both look out for each other. In the event of a severe fall, your skating partner can also go for help.
